CBN Top 25: 2/25

CBN Staff  |  2/25/13

Before we get to the poll, here's a couple of quick notes:

– Another team gets a boost in the polls at the expense of TCU as Cal St. Fullerton remains one of the few unbeaten teams left with a sweep of The Horned Frogs, outscoring them 20-4 in the process. This coming on the heels of two midweek road wins at Cal St. Bakersfield and Pepperdine. Heading into the second season under Coach Rick Vanderhook, The Titans were faced with a lot of holes to fill in the offseason. It's still way too early, but so far they have exceeded expectations.

– As for our preseason #7 Horned Frogs, they fall completely out of the rankings after being held winless for two straight weeks after facing superior pitching staffs in Fullerton this past weekend and Ole Miss the one before. They aren't the only team that is free-falling though with Florida dropping out after dropping a midweek game against Georgia Southern followed by a sweep at the hands of Florida Gulf Coast. It seems that The Gators pitching staff may have even more problems on top of the loss of stud-pitcher Karston Whitson.

– The only change in the top 10 this week is Oregon St. swapping positions with Vanderbilt after The Beavers took all four games from a San Diego St. that was feeling pretty good about itself after an opening series sweep over rival, San Diego. Vanderbilt on the other hand, slept through a sweep of Monmouth. Sorry, victim of the moment.

  1. Great coverage guys, UNC is undefeated. 6-0

  2. I'm assuming UNC would be #1 once you correct your poll? And then eveeryone #1 - #4 would drop down one spot, correct?

  3. So now that you corrected UNC's record, do you plan to re-rank?

  4. Regarding UNC's record, we effed up, our apologies.

Re-ranking wouldn't matter though. UNC has been impressive no doubt, but teams ahead of them haven't done anything to drop from where we slotted them the last two weeks (taking 2 of 3 in a series is not means for a drop in most cases). Still a lot of baseball left to be played. If UNC takes care of its business like it has these past two week, they'll be at the top in the end when it counts.
